New Teacher Weekend Getaway: Mono Cliffs Outdoor Education Centre - March 30 – April 1, 2012

ETT is inviting beginning teachers (those teaching for six years or less) to escape for a well-deserved weekend getaway to Mono Cliffs Outdoor Education Centre, the TDSB operated eco-facility located just north of Orangeville on the Niagara Escarpment.

Over the course of the weekend, ETT will host a variety of union-related workshops and health and wellness sessions, including a surplus and transfer seminar, Yoga, Tai Chi, and much more.

Sunday Morning Workshop: Social Justice Begins With Me

This workshop, which is based on ETFO's literature-themed resource kit, is designed to help teachers address issues of equity and social justice in the classroom. The year-round resource examines ideas including self-esteem, building supportive communities, and true worth and beauty.

On Sunday, attendees will also be treated to a visit from Martin Long, ETT President, and John Smith, ETT's Chief Negotiator and Collective Bargaining Committee Liaison.

The fee to register is $80.00 per person.

Rooms are based on double occupancy. Shared washrooms.

Transportation

If necessary, ETT will connect members to help arrange carpooling. Please contact the ETT office if you are unable to find transportation.

Directions

From Toronto go north on Hwy 400 and exit at Hwy 9 west. Follow Hwy 9 west to Mono Mills at Airport Road (32 km). Go north (right) on Airport Road for about 13 km. Turn left (west) at County Road #8 (Mono Centre Road). Follow Mono Centre Road to Mono Centre (6 km). At the "T" intersection in Mono Centre, turn right (north) and follow that road 2 km to the end. Mono Cliffs Outdoor Education Centre is the last driveway on the left.
