Election Details

ETT is conducting a by-election for the position of Executive Officer (1).

The term of office is from January 8, 2018 to June 30, 2018. In the case of an acclamation, the successful candidate will take office on November 27, 2017.

Voting will take place online. All ETT Members in good standing (including those on leave) are eligible to vote and/or declare their candidacy.

Voting will begin on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. and will end on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 p.m.

All ETT members in good standing may vote in this by-election.

Notice of By-Election for the Position of Executive Officer
Monday, November 20, 2017

  • Notice sent to ETT members via the ETT website and ETT Weekly of the pending election for the position of Executive Officer (1).

Nomination Period
Monday, November 20, 2017, 10:00 a.m. to Monday, November 27, 2017, 4:00 p.m.

  • On Monday, November 20, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., nomination forms and instructions will be made available to potential candidates via the ETT website.
  • Deadline for nomination forms and campaign materials is Monday, November 27, 2017, 4:00 p.m.
  • Campaign materials must be received and accepted by the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) before a candidate can begin campaigning.
  • Candidate information will be made available on the ETT website on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.

  • The CRO will email all candidates the Steward list.

Voting
Wednesday, December 13, 2017, 8:00 a.m. to Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 10:00 p.m.

  • Voting will take place online.
  • Members will be required to login to the ETT website to vote.

Results
Thursday, December 21, 2017

  • Voting results will be tabulated by a third-party electronic voting service and relayed to the CRO.
  • Results will be posted on the ETT website on Thursday, December 21, 2017, by noon.
  • The successful candidate will take office on January 8, 2018 and finish their term on June 30, 2018.

Online Voting Procedure and Support

Unlike previous ETT elections, a voting credential, such as a Personal Identification Number (PIN), is not required to vote. Voter identification will take place through the usual login process on the ETT website.

Please ensure that you have registered for an account on the ETT website, and that the email address associated with your account is up-to-date.

Issues Accessing Your Ballot

If you are a valid ETT member, but cannot access your ballot, please contact the Voter Help Centre at 1-866-466-4413.

  • Wednesday, December 13 to Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 3:00 – 10:00 p.m.

If calling during off hours, leave a message (including name, ETFO member number, phone number and reason for your call) and a helpline agent will return your call.

Please have your ETFO member number ready when you call as it will be required for identification purposes.

Purpose of the Forum and Rules for Postings

The purpose of this forum is to facilitate discussion between the general membership and candidates for the ETT December 2017 By-Election: Executive Officer.

Members are encouraged to ask the candidates general questions and candidates may reply to any or all of the questions.

All postings, questions, and or statements must comply with the ETFO Human Rights Statement.

Members and candidates may only respond to any particular question or a thread twice. Any member/candidate who has more than two posting for the same question/thread will result in the extra postings/thread being removed.

Forum participants may not post links or any form of contact information.

Candidates who violate campaign rules and protocols may be sanctioned.
