On behalf of the ETT Executive I would like to welcome everyone back from the summer break. Hopefully, everyone was able to get some rest and time to travel, or spend time with family and friends.
On a personal level, l would like to thank so many people for their positive support and good wishes as I begin my first term as president of ETT.
Schools are amazing places and we, as teachers, should be very proud of our work with students.
While this time of year is a period of hope and possibilities in the classroom, the political horizon looks challenging. Negotiations for a new Collective Agreement, both centrally with the ministry and locally with the TDSB, begin this fall. As your President, I am committed to keeping members informed as we move through this process. Towards this end, there are important Stewards meetings in September and it is vital that a representative from each school be present.
I would like to wish everyone a fulfilling and exciting year and I encourage all teachers to become actively involved in our union. I look forward to meeting you at one of the events organized by ETT during the coming school year.
